Diploma/scroll icon in GBG and continent battle map

Recently in GBG and on the continent map, I’ve noticed a diploma/scroll icon grouped with the counters for Kraken, spoils of war, Diplomatic gifts, etc. Occasionally after completing a fight there will be a ‘ding’ sound and a ‘1’ will appear on the diploma/scroll.

What is this supposed to be/indicate?

Solved it. When your action in th eGE screen completes a quest from the city screen, you will get the ding and number changes for each quest completed
