New permission required: no thank you!

I have FOE-Helper 2.8
as of today it requires the following permissions:
– read your browsing history
– display notifications
– modify data that you copy and paste

might be a bug, but I want none of that, whatever the reasons, so in the meantime I remove FOE-Helper. Too bad, it was a great extension, and if it proves too painful to play the old way, might as well be the end of FOE for me

All of these permissions have always been needed and were built in when the helper was launched 4 years ago!! Today only 2 URLs have been added to load the Beta data from Github.

Really? they didn’t show up when I installed FoE (and reinstalled a month ago when I changed computer, I would have noticed at the time at least). I would not have installed the helper.

More details: We use the permissions for “tabs”, which gives us an information if an FoE tab is opened or not. We need this to show you the update message for an FoE helper update only if you are actively playing FoE. As Chrome is wording that permission as “read history of your browser” i would say this is very bad wording imho. So we can assure you, we never had, we are not and we are not going to read your browsers history at any time as we really dont care about 😉
